Steve Augarde (born 3 October 1950) is a British author and artist. He writes and illustrates books for children and young adults. He has also created many picture books for younger kids. These include pop-up books, where he designed the special paper parts that make pictures pop out. He also worked on the Little Red Car books and other projects.

Steven Andre Augarde was born in 1950 in Birmingham, England. He lived in the West Country for many years before moving to Yorkshire. He studied art at different colleges, including Yeovil School of Art.
Steve Augarde is a talented artist and writer. He not only creates his own books but also draws pictures for other authors. He is also a "paper engineer," which means he designs how paper moves and folds, especially for pop-up books.
He also helped create the animated BBC TV show Bump. This show is about a funny, clumsy young elephant. Steve Augarde made the artwork and music for the show. He is also a jazz musician and plays the double bass in a four-person jazz band called the Gents.
