Steve Brodie (born John Daugherty Stephens) was an American actor. He was born on November 21, 1919, in El Dorado, Kansas. He became famous for his roles in movies and TV shows. He chose his stage name, Steve Brodie, to honor a famous daredevil. This daredevil claimed to have jumped from the Brooklyn Bridge in 1886 and survived. Steve Brodie passed away on January 9, 1992.

Steve Brodie acted in 79 movies during his career. This was from 1944 to 1988. He also appeared in many TV shows. He worked for big studios like MGM and RKO. He often played roles in Westerns and B-movies. These were usually smaller, supporting parts.

Some of his well-known films include Out of the Past (1947) and Armored Car Robbery (1950). He had a main role in the 1947 movie Desperate. Later, he appeared in two movies with Elvis Presley. These were Blue Hawaii (1961) and Roustabout (1964).

From the mid-1950s, Steve Brodie mostly worked on television. He was a guest star in many popular series. He played the outlaw Harry Tracy in Stories of the Century. He also appeared in shows like Alfred Hitchcock Presents and Wanted: Dead or Alive.

Brodie was a guest on Perry Mason three times. He played different characters in episodes from 1959 to 1964. He also appeared as Sheriff Johnny Behan in the Western series The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp.
