Stephen Robert Jenkins, born on July 16, 1972, is a former professional footballer from Wales. He played as a full back, which is a defensive position on the field. He also represented his country, playing 16 times for the Wales between 1995 and 2001. Today, he is the manager of Barry Town.
Steve Jenkins' Playing Career
Steve Jenkins started his football journey at Swansea City. He was part of the team that won the 1994 Football League Trophy Final in 1994. This was a big achievement, decided by a penalty shootout.
Time at Huddersfield Town
After his time at Swansea, Steve spent seven years playing for Huddersfield Town. He became a very important player there. He was even made the team captain. Fans really liked him, and he became a favorite during his time with the club.
Moving to Swindon Town
In 2005, Jenkins signed with Swindon Town. However, the team faced a tough time. Swindon was moved down to a lower league, League Two. When a new manager, Dennis Wise, took over, Steve's offer for a new contract was taken back. He then left the club.
Later Playing Years
After leaving Swindon, Steve played for Newport County for three years. During this time, he also started coaching. In May 2009, he joined Llanelli as a player and assistant manager. He worked alongside manager Andy Legg there.

After a successful playing career, Steve Jenkins moved into football management. He has managed and coached several teams.
Managing Monmouth Town
In June 2013, Steve Jenkins was appointed as the manager of Monmouth Town. This was his first main role as a manager.
Assistant Manager at Hereford United
On March 20, 2014, Jenkins became the assistant manager at Hereford United. He worked with manager Peter Beadle. The team managed to avoid being moved to a lower league in the 2013–14 season. They stayed up by winning their final game.
Leading Merthyr Town
Soon after, on May 23, 2014, Jenkins was appointed manager of his hometown club, Merthyr Town. He led the team for about two years.
Return to Hereford
On May 30, 2016, Steve Jenkins returned to Hereford, this time as an assistant manager again. He stayed in this role until September 13, 2018.
Coaching at Barnet
In 2020, on September 4, Jenkins joined Barnet as an assistant coach. He worked with Peter Beadle once more. He left the club in December of that year.
Coaching Young Players
From 2021 to 2023, Steve worked as a coach for the Under-18s team at Cardiff City. This role involved helping young players develop their skills.
Current Role at Barry Town
On August 5, 2023, Steve Jenkins was named the new manager of Barry Town. This happened just before the start of the Cymru Premier season. He took over from the previous manager, Lee Kendall.
