About Steve Parker
Steve Parker was born in Warrington, England, in 1952. He went to college and earned a top degree in Zoology (the study of animals) from the University of Wales, Bangor.
After college, Steve worked at the famous Natural History Museum in London. He also worked as an editor for publishers like Dorling Kindersley, which makes many popular non-fiction books. In the late 1980s, he decided to become a full-time writer. Steve is now a Senior Scientific Fellow of the Zoological Society of London, which is a big honor! He lives in Suffolk with his family.
His Books and Writing
Steve Parker started his writing career with 10 books in the well-known Eyewitness series by Dorling Kindersley. These books are famous for their cool pictures and facts.
He has worked with many different children's book publishers. His books have been nominated for several awards, including the Rhone-Poulenc Science Book Prize and the Blue Peter Book Award.
In 2009, Steve co-wrote The Complete Guide to Minerals, Rocks and Fossils of the World with John Farndon.

- Also in 2013, Fizzing Physics won the Hampshire Information Book Award.

- Kill or Cure, an Illustrated History of Medicine (2013)
Kill or Cure was a huge success. In 2014, it made it onto the New York Times Science Bestsellers list. It also won the British Medical Association Book Award for Public Understanding of Science.
In 2015, Steve was the main editor for Evolution: The Whole Story. He led a team of 12 experts who wrote about paleontology (the study of fossils), paleobiology (the study of ancient life), and paleoecology (the study of ancient environments). The popular magazine New Scientist said the book was "highly accessible" and "breathes life into everything."
Steve continued to create large and complex books. In 2016, he published:
- Medicine: The Definitive Visual History
- BODY: The infographic book of us (with graphic designer Andrew Baker)
- Colour and Vision: Through the Eyes of Nature (with the Natural History Museum)
In 2017, he released more books, including A Brief Illustrated History of Life on Earth and books about dinosaurs, oceans, and robots. In 2018, Steve won the School Library Information Book award for a second time for his book In Focus: Seas and Oceans.

Steve Parker loves to share his knowledge! He travels all around Britain to visit schools, libraries, and science events. At these events, he gives talks, leads workshops, and signs books. It's a great way for him to connect with young readers and share his passion for science.
