Sticks'n'Sushi is a popular restaurant chain. It started in Copenhagen, Denmark. They are famous for their delicious sushi and yakitori. Yakitori are tasty grilled skewers. You can find their restaurants in Copenhagen, the United Kingdom, and Berlin.
How It Started
Sticks'n'Sushi was created by a family. Danish-Japanese brothers Jens and Kim Rahbek Hansen started it. Their mother, Keiko, and brother-in-law, Thor Andersen, also helped. The very first restaurant opened in Copenhagen. This happened on March 22, 1994. It was on a street called Nansensgade. After that, more restaurants opened in the Copenhagen area.
Restaurants in the UK
The first Sticks'n'Sushi in London opened in March 2012. It was located on Wimbledon Hill Road. In May 2013, the owners sold a part of their company. This helped them get money to open more restaurants abroad. The second London restaurant opened in October 2013. It was in Covent Garden.
In 2015, a new restaurant opened in Greenwich. It was in an old, historic building. This location was near the Maritime Museum and Cutty Sark. Another restaurant opened in Canary Wharf. This one was special because it served breakfast. It offered a mix of Japanese and Danish breakfast foods.
More restaurants opened across the UK. Sticks'n'Sushi Cambridge opened in May 2016. In November 2017, one opened in Westgate Oxford. The seventh UK restaurant opened in Victoria in December 2017. In October 2018, their biggest UK restaurant opened in Chelsea. This was also the first UK location with a private dining room. In autumn 2020, they opened a restaurant in Soho. It was in a building that used to be a police station. Since then, more restaurants have opened. These include locations in White City, Shoreditch, and Kingston.
Restaurants in Germany
In 2017, the company became even more international. They opened their first restaurant in Germany. This restaurant was in Berlin on Potsdamer Straße. As of October 2023, there are three Sticks'n'Sushi restaurants in Berlin.
