Stonelick, Ohio facts for kids
Stonelick is a small, unincorporated community located in Clermont County, in the state of Ohio, United States. An "unincorporated community" means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own official local government like a city or a town does.
A Look at Stonelick's Past
Stonelick has a simple but interesting history, especially when it comes to its name and how people communicated long ago.
The Old Post Office
- Back in 1859, a post office opened in this area. It was first called "Stone Lick."
- Later, in 1895, the name was changed slightly to "Stonelick," which is what we call it today.
- However, the post office didn't stay open forever. It closed its doors in 1900.
Where Did the Name Come From?
The name "Stonelick" actually comes from a nearby natural feature. There's a stream or small river in the area called Stonelick Creek, and that's where the community got its name.
