Straw (which means "wide valley" in Irish) is a small village and a special area called a townland in County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. In 2001, only 57 people lived there, making it a very tiny community. It is located about one mile (or 1.6 kilometers) southwest of Draperstown, within the Mid-Ulster District.
Life in Straw
Straw is home to a few important local places. The main church for the community is St. Columba's Catholic Church. For younger residents, the local school is St. Columba's Primary School, where children go to learn and play.
