It is located about five kilometres north-west of a town called Jerangle. It is also 55 kilometres south of Queanbeyan.

How the Reserve Started

The Strike-a-Light Nature Reserve was officially created in January 2001. This happened as part of a big plan called the Southern Regional Forest Agreement. Before it became a nature reserve, the land was known as Crown land. This means it was owned by the government. Now, it is a protected area for nature.
