Where is this Reserve Located?
This nature reserve is found in the Monaro region of New South Wales. This is in the eastern part of Australia. The reserve covers about 407 hectares, which is like 1,000 football fields! It is located about five kilometres north-west of a town called Jerangle. It is also 55 kilometres south of Queanbeyan.
How the Reserve Started
The Strike-a-Light Nature Reserve was officially created in January 2001. This happened as part of a big plan called the Southern Regional Forest Agreement. Before it became a nature reserve, the land was known as Crown land. This means it was owned by the government. Now, it is a protected area for nature.
