Stringtown, Pennsylvania facts for kids
Stringtown is a small, unincorporated community located in Greene County, in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. Being "unincorporated" means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town does. Instead, it's usually governed by the larger county.
What's in a Name? The History of Stringtown
The name "Stringtown" is quite interesting! In 1999, two people who lived there thought about how the community got its name. They guessed it might be because the houses in the area are "all strung out" along a road. Another idea was that the main road itself "runs like a string," meaning it's long and perhaps straight or winding like a piece of string.
