The Story of Stubtown's Name
For a while, Stubtown had a different name: Game. A post office was opened there in 1898, and it was called the "Game Post Office." This post office helped people send and receive letters and packages. It stayed open for about 13 years, closing down in 1911.
After the post office closed, the community's name changed. The new name, Stubtown, was chosen to honor a local family known as the Stubbs family. Many places in the United States are named after important families or people who lived there.
