Sun Yafang (Chinese: 孙亚芳; born in 1955) is a Chinese engineer and a top business leader. She was the Chairwoman of Huawei, a big technology company, for a very long time. She held this important role from 1999 to 2018. In 2016, a magazine called Forbes listed her as the 38th most powerful woman in the world.

Sun Yafang's Early Life and Education
Sun Yafang was born in 1955 in Guizhou, China. She studied hard and earned her bachelor's degree in 1982. She graduated from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC).
Sun Yafang's Career Journey
After finishing college, Sun Yafang started her career as a technician. She worked at a company called Xin Fei TV Manufactory. In 1985, she became an engineer at the Beijing Research Institution of Communication Technology. Before joining Huawei, she also worked for a government department that handled communications.
Joining Huawei and Becoming Chairwoman
Sun Yafang began working at Huawei in 1989. Huawei is a global leader in technology. She quickly moved up in the company. By 1999, she became the Chairwoman of the entire corporation. She led Huawei for 19 years.
Stepping Down from Leadership
In March 2018, Sun Yafang decided to step down as Chairwoman. Huawei changed its leadership system to a "rotating chairman" model. This means different leaders take turns running the company. Liang Hua took over her position.
Awards and Recognition
Sun Yafang has received important awards for her work. In May 2012, she got the World Telecommunication and Information Society Award. This award came from the International Telecommunication Union. In 2014, Forbes magazine also recognized her. They listed her as the 81st most powerful woman in the world.
