Past Tornado Events
On December 18, 1957, a very strong tornado, called an F5 tornado, hit about 1 mile north of Sunfield. An F5 tornado is the strongest type of tornado. This storm caused a lot of damage and sadly, one person lost their life.
More recently, in March 2020, a different tornado, an EF1, passed right through Sunfield. An EF1 tornado is not as strong as an F5, but it can still cause significant damage. This tornado injured one person and damaged buildings in the town. These events show how important it is for communities in this region to be prepared for severe weather.
