The company started in 1993. It was founded by Adi Boiko and Wilhelm Hamrozi. Adi Boiko became the president of the company. Wilhelm Hamrozi was the chief executive officer (CEO). Sunflowers was well-known for several popular game series. These included the Anno series, which they made with Max Design. They also published Knights of Honor by Black Sea Studios and ParaWorld by SEK.
