Susanne Lothar (born November 15, 1960 – died July 21, 2012) was a talented German actress. She was known for her work in movies, TV shows, and on stage.

Her Early Life and Education

Susanne Lothar was born in Hamburg, Germany. Her parents, Hanns Lothar and Ingrid Andree, were also actors. They divorced when Susanne was young. She studied acting at a special school in Hamburg called the Hochschule für Theater und Musik. This helped her prepare for a career in acting.

Her Acting Career

Susanne Lothar was a member of the Deutsches Schauspielhaus theatre company in Hamburg for many years. She performed in many plays there. One of her first movies was Strange Fruits (1983). For this role, she won an award for best young actress in Germany.

She often worked with director Michael Haneke. She starred with her husband, Ulrich Mühe, in Haneke's film Funny Games (1997). She also appeared in other Haneke films like The Castle (1997), The Piano Teacher (2001), and The White Ribbon (2009).

Her Family Life

Susanne Lothar married actor Ulrich Mühe in 1997. They had two children together. Sadly, Ulrich Mühe passed away in 2007. Susanne Lothar died on July 21, 2012, just one day before the fifth anniversary of her husband's death.
