Suspect was a British TV show from 2008. It aired on the BBC and CBBC channels. This exciting series was a "whodunit" mystery show. A "whodunit" is a type of story where you try to figure out who committed a mystery or puzzle.
What is Suspect About?
The show Suspect was all about young detectives. Children would try to solve mysteries that happened at a made-up place called the Kilcrammond House Hotel. Their goal was to earn a spot in the Academy of Criminal Investigation (ACI). The name "ACI" is a special kind of word puzzle called an anagram. It uses the letters from "CIA" (a real-life intelligence agency) but rearranges them.
How Do They Solve Crimes?
Each episode of Suspect featured a new, made-up crime. These crimes were often things that kids could relate to. For example, there were mysteries about theft, sabotage (meaning someone tried to mess things up), forgery (making fake documents), or even food poisoning.
The children had to work hard to solve the case. They knew that the person who committed the crime was one of four suspects. These four people were introduced at the beginning of each show.
Becoming a Detective
To help them solve the mystery, the young detectives got to use cool tools. They used special equipment, just like real forensic scientists. This included checking for fingerprints and looking at soil samples.
They also had the chance to talk to three of the four suspects. This helped them gather clues and figure out who might be responsible. After collecting all the information, the children had to make their final decision. If they guessed correctly, they won entry into the ACI!
