The Story of Swiss Miss
How It Started
Back in the 1950s, Swiss Miss first sold its hot cocoa mix to businesses. They put the mix in small packets. Airlines and restaurants used these packets to make hot cocoa for their customers.
Becoming a Home Favorite
People really liked the hot cocoa. So, the company decided to make it for everyone to buy in stores. In 1961, they launched a new powdered hot cocoa mix. This was special because it was the first one you could make with water, not just milk!
New Owners Over Time
In 1967, the Swiss Miss brand was sold to a company called Beatrice Foods. Later, another company, ConAgra, bought Beatrice Foods. As of a few years ago, Swiss Miss sold about 50 million boxes of cocoa mix every year!
