Sydney Michelle Schneider (born 31 August 1999) is a professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper. She plays for the National Women's Soccer League club Chicago Red Stars. Even though she was born in the United States, she plays for the Jamaican national team.

Early Life and Soccer Beginnings
Sydney Schneider grew up in Dayton, New Jersey, which is part of South Brunswick, New Jersey. She went to South Brunswick High School.
College Soccer at UNC Wilmington
In February 2017, Sydney decided to play college soccer for the UNC Wilmington Seahawks. In her first year, she played every minute of all 19 games. She was only the second goalkeeper in her school's history to do this. In 2019, she was named the best goalkeeper in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA).
Sydney's Professional Soccer Journey
Sydney was chosen by Washington Spirit in the 2021 NWSL Draft. This is a special event where professional teams pick new players. In January 2023, Sydney moved to Europe and signed with Sparta Prague in the Czech Republic. She played in the Czech Women's First League. In May 2023, she signed a new contract to stay with Sparta Prague for another year.
On January 29, 2024, Sydney returned to the United States. She signed a one-year contract with the National Women's Soccer League club Chicago Red Stars.
Playing for Her Country: Jamaica
Sydney had a few choices for which country she could play for. She could play for the United States (where she was born), Germany (where her biological father was born), or Jamaica (where her grandparents were born).
In 2016, she chose to play for Jamaica. She represented Jamaica at the 2016 CONCACAF Women's U-17 Championship. She also played for the Jamaica U-20 team in 2018.
Sydney was chosen for the Jamaican senior team for the 2018 CONCACAF Women's Championship. In a game against Costa Rica, she made many important saves. Her great playing helped Jamaica win 1-0, which was a big surprise!
Sydney was the main goalkeeper for Jamaica at the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup. In her first World Cup game against Brazil, she saved a penalty kick. She played very well in the match, even though her team lost 0-3.

Sydney comes from a family with different backgrounds. Her biological father is German. Her mother was born in the United States, but her mother's parents were from Jamaica. Sydney's stepfather is from Greece.
