Sylvanus Wood studied law at Lincoln's Inn. This was a famous place in London where people learned to become lawyers. He finished his law studies on December 7, 1632. This meant he was ready to work as a lawyer.

Start of Political Work

In 1642, Sylvanus Wood began his public service. He was chosen to be a commissioner for the city of Gloucester. A commissioner is like an official who helps manage the city's affairs.

Member of Parliament

In 1654, Sylvanus Wood was elected to a very important position. He became a Member of Parliament (MP) for Gloucestershire. An MP is someone chosen by the people to represent them in the government.
