Sylvester Emeka Igbonu (born on September 8, 1990), known as Sylvester Igboun, is a former professional football player from Nigeria. He played as a forward, which means he was usually in charge of scoring goals.
Sylvester Igboun was famous for his amazing speed on the field. His real family name is Igbonu, but it was spelled differently on his passport. Because of this, his jersey often showed his nickname "Sly" instead of his last name.

Sylvester Igboun's Football Journey
Playing for Clubs
Sylvester Igboun started his professional career in Denmark with FC Midtjylland. He played there for several years, from 2010 to 2015. He was a key player for the team, scoring many goals.
In 2015, Sylvester moved to Russia and joined FC Ufa, a team in the Russian Premier League. He played for Ufa for five years, showing off his skills as a forward.
In September 2019, he joined FC Dynamo Moscow on a temporary loan. He quickly became a favorite among fans and was even voted player of the month in September 2019. Because he did so well, Dynamo Moscow signed him permanently in August 2020. He continued to play for them until January 2022.
After leaving Dynamo, Sylvester briefly joined Nizhny Novgorod in February 2022. However, his contract ended quickly in March of the same year.
Later in 2022, Sylvester Igboun moved to India. He signed a two-year contract with Indian Super League club NorthEast United. He played his first game for them in October 2022. However, he soon left the team. He mentioned that the team's facilities and living arrangements were not good enough.
Playing for His Country
Sylvester Igboun also had the honor of playing for his home country, Nigeria. He made his first international appearance in September 2015. This was during a game against Tanzania. He came into the game as a substitute in the second half.
