The Symphony of Northwest Arkansas (SoNA) is a professional orchestra. An orchestra is a big group of musicians. They play many different musical instruments together. SoNA performs in Northwest Arkansas. They often play at the Walton Arts Center in Fayetteville. SoNA also works with other groups. These include the University of Arkansas and the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art.

What is the History of SoNA?

SoNA is a non-profit organization. This means they use money to support their mission. Their mission is to share music with people. SoNA used to be called the North Arkansas Symphony (NASO). It started way back in 1954.

In 2008, the group took a break. They also reorganized how they worked. SoNA came back to the stage in 2011. They have a group of community leaders. These leaders help guide SoNA. They are called the Board of Directors and Advisors.

In 2013, SoNA started a special program. It is called ImagiMusic. This program helps students learn about music. It connects music with other school subjects. ImagiMusic has reached over 3,000 students. These students are from ten schools in the area.
