Building Tŷ Pont Haearn
People first thought about building Tŷ Pont Haearn in 2003. Work started in 2004 and finished in September 2005.
Where the Building Stands
The land where Tŷ Pont Haearn was built used to be a cold storage building. This old building was taken down to make space for the new one. The construction company, Carillion, had to do a lot of work on the ground first.
Building in the city centre was tricky. The area was small and shaped like a triangle. Two sides of the site were next to busy railway lines. Also, the street leading to it, Pellett Street, was very narrow.
How the Building Was Made
Tŷ Pont Haearn was built using strong foundations called piles. Workers used traditional building methods. The building has a repeating design, which helped the construction team get faster as they went along.
Finishing Touches
The building was finished on time, which was great! This meant students could move in just before the new school year started. They even started moving in on a Saturday, two days earlier than planned.

Safety and Services
Tŷ Pont Haearn has a team on site to manage the building and fix any problems. There's also 24-hour security with cameras and electronic entry systems. A reception desk is staffed all day and night.
The building is also set up for wheelchair access. It has a shared living area with internet and vending machines. Students can also use an on-site laundry room and store their bikes safely.
