TD Canada Trust, often called just TD, is a large bank in Canada. It is part of the bigger TD Bank Group. This bank is the second-largest in Canada. It helps over 10 million Canadian customers with their money.
TD Canada Trust offers many financial services. You can find them at more than 1,100 branches. They also have 2,600 ATMs across the country. Besides branches, TD has experts like mortgage specialists and financial planners. These people help customers with different money needs.
The name "TD Canada Trust" came about in 2000. This was after TD bought another company called Canada Trust. Before this, the bank's main operations were known as "TD Bank." Over time, TD has started to remove "Canada Trust" from its logos and ads.

How TD Canada Trust Started

TD Bank was formed a long time ago. Two older banks joined together on February 1, 1955. These were the Bank of Toronto, started in 1855, and The Dominion Bank, started in 1869.
Later, in 2000, TD Bank bought Canada Trust. Canada Trust itself began in 1864 in London, Ontario. It was first known as the Huron and Erie Savings and Loan Society. After buying Canada Trust, TD changed its overall name to "TD Bank Financial Group."
The parts of Canada Trust that dealt with everyday customers joined with TD's existing banking services. This happened between 2000 and 2001. This is how "TD Canada Trust" was created. Because both banks had branches in many of the same areas, some branches were closed or combined.
How TD Canada Trust Works
TD Canada Trust uses modern technology to help its customers. In 2010, they launched a special app for phones. This app works on iOS, Android, and BlackBerry devices. It lets customers do many banking tasks right from their phone.
In June 2012, TD Canada Trust made its Access Card better. This new card uses Visa Debit and Interac Flash. It means customers can use their card to pay online or with their phone. They can also use it at stores around the world through the Visa network.
Customer Services and Languages
TD Canada Trust tries to help all its customers. They offer phone service in over 200 different languages. These include common languages like English, French, Mandarin, and Cantonese. At their ATMs, you can choose from five languages: English, French, Italian, Cantonese, and Portuguese.
