TNT Creek is a small stream located in Lane County, Oregon, in the United States. It is a "tributary" of Hills Creek. A tributary is a smaller stream that flows into a larger one. TNT Creek joins Hills Creek about 10.5 miles (16.9 kilometers) before Hills Creek meets the Middle Fork Willamette River.
How TNT Creek Got Its Name
The name TNT Creek comes from an interesting event. A United States Forest Service ranger was traveling near the creek with a pack mule. The mule was carrying a load of trinitrotoluene, which is often called TNT.
During the trip, the mule accidentally threw off its load of TNT right by the creek. Because of this memorable incident, the creek was given the name TNT Creek.
