How Athletes Qualified for Table Tennis
To play in the Paris 2024 Olympics, 172 spots were available for table tennis players. These spots were split evenly between men and women. Each country could send a maximum of six table tennis players. They could compete in five different medal events. These events included men's and women's singles, men's and women's teams, and mixed doubles. For the singles events, each country could send up to two players per gender.
France, as the host country, automatically got a spot in the men's and women's team events. This also meant one player from each gender could compete in the singles tournament. France also got a direct spot in the mixed doubles event. This event was first introduced at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
