Taekwondo is an exciting martial art that was part of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France. These competitions took place from August 7 to 10 at the Grand Palais. Around 128 taekwondo fighters from all over the world competed. There were an equal number of men and women athletes. They competed in eight different weight categories. This is the same number of categories as in past Olympic Games since 2008. Each weight category usually had sixteen fighters. Sometimes, more athletes from the Refugee Olympic Team might join.

Athletes earned their spots in a few ways. Some qualified by being top-ranked in the world. Others earned their place through special tournaments. These tournaments were held in different parts of the world. For example, there were events in Africa, Asia, and Europe. The host country, France, also had a few spots saved for its own athletes.
