He played as a midfielder, which is a position in the middle of the field. Watanabe is best known for playing with the Urawa Reds, a famous football club in Japan.

Takamasa Watanabe started his life in Tokyo, Japan. After finishing his studies at the University of Tsukuba, he decided to become a professional football player. In 2001, he joined the Urawa Reds. This team plays in the J1 League, which is Japan's top football league.
