Takashi Umeda's Football Journey
Takashi Umeda was born in Kakamigahara, Japan, on May 30, 1976. After finishing high school, he started his professional football career in 1995.
Starting with Seino Transportation
Umeda joined a team called Seino Transportation in 1995. This team played in the Japan Football League (JFL). He quickly became an important player, playing in many matches. By 1997, he was a regular starter for the team. However, the club stopped playing at the end of the 1997 season.
Moving to Oita Trinita
In 1998, Umeda moved to another JFL team, Oita Trinity. This team later changed its name to Oita Trinita. He continued to play a lot, and his team did very well. In 1999, Oita Trinita was promoted to a new league called the J2 League.
Playing in J1 League
From 2000, Umeda played a bit less, but his team kept improving. In 2002, Oita Trinita won the J2 League championship! This meant they were promoted to the top league in Japan, the J1 League, starting in 2003. Umeda became a regular player again in J1, often playing as a defensive midfielder. This position helps protect the team's goal.
Loan to FC Gifu
In 2007, Umeda's playing time at Oita Trinita decreased. So, in 2008, he went on loan to FC Gifu, a team from his hometown that had just been promoted to the J2 League. He played regularly for FC Gifu that season.
Returning to Oita and Retirement
Umeda returned to Oita Trinita in 2009. However, he didn't play many matches that year, and the team was relegated back to the J2 League in 2010. Many main players left Oita Trinita, which gave Umeda more chances to play. He played many matches as a regular player in 2010. At the end of the 2010 season, Takashi Umeda decided to retire from professional football.
