Takayoshi Yamano was born in Osaka Prefecture, Japan. After finishing college, he joined a local football team. This team was called Yanmar Diesel. He joined them in 1978.

His team, Yanmar Diesel, had a great year in 1980. They won the league championship that year. They also won the JSL Cup twice. These wins were in 1983 and 1984.
