Takuji Yonemoto (born December 3, 1990) is a Japanese footballer. He plays as a defensive midfielder for the Kyoto Sanga club. A defensive midfielder is a player who helps protect the team's goal. They often play in front of the defenders.

Playing for Japan

Youth National Team

In August 2007, Takuji Yonemoto was chosen for the Japan U-17 national team. He played in the 2007 FIFA U-17 World Cup. He played two matches in this important youth tournament.

Senior National Team

Yonemoto made his first appearance for the main Japan team on January 6, 2010. This was during a qualifying match for the 2011 AFC Asian Cup against Yemen.

In 2015, the coach of the Japan national team, Vahid Halilhodžić, invited him to training camps. He was called up again in July 2015 for the 2015 EAFF East Asian Cup.

Time at FC Tokyo

Yonemoto joined FC Tokyo in 2009. He played many games for them over several years. He was part of the team that won the 2009 J.League Cup and the 2011 Emperor's Cup. These are two major football competitions in Japan. He played 215 league games and scored 5 goals for FC Tokyo.

Playing for Nagoya Grampus

After leaving FC Tokyo, Yonemoto moved to Nagoya Grampus in 2019. He continued to play as a defensive midfielder. He played 122 league games and scored 1 goal for Nagoya Grampus.

Loan Spells and Kyoto Sanga

Yonemoto also played on loan for Shonan Bellmare in 2022. He played 27 league games for them. In 2024, he joined Kyoto Sanga on loan. He officially joined Kyoto Sanga in 2025.
