About the Garden Stories
Tony Robinson would tell exciting stories directly to the camera. He sat in a beautiful English garden, making it feel like he was talking just to you! The stories were usually about a character named Fat Tulip and his best friend, Thin Tim. Tony Robinson was amazing because he did all the different voices for every character himself!
Who Was Involved?
The show was written by Debbie Gates and Tony Robinson. Tony Robinson's special way of telling stories, which was partly made up on the spot, made the show really engaging. He wanted to spark kids' imaginations and make the stories feel real and immediate.
Meet the Characters
Besides Fat Tulip and Thin Tim, there were many other fun characters in the garden. These included Fred the Baddy, Gilbert Harding Sheep, Bunting Tadpole, Anwar and Amita Rabbit, and Tracey Bee. There was even a cockle named Jim Morrison! And don't forget the Terrible Stinkers, who were Peter, Paul, and Mary.
Where Was it Filmed?
Most of the show was filmed in a house and garden called Little Monkhams. This property is located in Woodford Green in the London Borough of Redbridge. Some other scenes were filmed in a part of Epping Forest that was close to the house.
