What's the Story About?
This TV series tells a different version of the Neverending Story. It explores how Bastian first finds the magical world of Fantasia. The show changes many things from the original book. It even changes more than the earlier movies from 1984, 1990, and 1994 did.
How the Show is Different
Some events from the book happen in a different order in the show. Also, some characters switch roles. For example, in the book and movies, Bastian goes into Fantasia. But in this TV series, Atreyu comes into our world instead.
The show also adds a new idea about the Childlike Empress and Xayide. In the series, they are sisters with opposite ideas. The Old Man of Wandering Mountain also has a bigger part. He becomes a guide for Atreyu, much like Karl Konrad Koreander helps Bastian.
New Characters You'll Meet
The series introduces some new characters too. Lucas and Marley are Bastian's friends. They try to help him when he's dealing with school bullies. Fly Girl is another new hero. Atreyu meets her while she is on her own special quest. This TV show is the first live-action version that doesn't have the characters Nighthob, Teeny-Weeny, or Rockbiter.
