Tamás Kenderesi (born December 13, 1996) is a talented swimmer from Hungary. He is known for his skill in the butterfly style. Tamás has won many important medals, including a bronze medal at the Olympic Games and European Championships, and a gold medal at the Youth Olympics.

Early Life and Family

Tamás Kenderesi was born in Bonyhad, Hungary. His family comes from a place called Aparhant in Tolna county. His mother works as a teacher, and his father is a toolmaker and business owner.

Tamás is the oldest of four children. He has three younger brothers. He started learning to swim in Pecs with his coach, Imre Tari. His current swimming club is the Pecsi Sport Nonprofit.

Education and Future Plans

Tamás is currently studying at the University of Pecs. He is learning to be a coach. After he finishes his swimming career, he hopes to become a successful swimming coach. He wants to help other swimmers achieve their dreams.

Swimming Career Highlights

Junior Success

In 2014, Tamás Kenderesi won a gold medal. This was at the European Junior Swimming Championships in Dordrecht. He competed in the 200 meter butterfly event.

Later in 2014, Tamás swam at the Summer Youth Olympics. This event took place in Nanjing, China. He finished 7th in the 100 meter butterfly race. However, he won the gold medal in the 200 meter butterfly.

Olympic Games and Major Events

Tamás had to miss the 2015 World Aquatics Championships. He was ill and could not practice for three months. Later that year, he swam at the European Short Course Championships. This competition was in Netanya, Israel. He placed 35th in the 100 meter butterfly. He also finished 9th in the 200 meter butterfly.

At the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Tamás did very well. He qualified first for the semifinals in the 200 meter butterfly. He then qualified first for the final with a time of 1:53.96. In the final race, he won the bronze medal. His time was 1:53.62.

In 2017, Tamás Kenderesi competed in the 17th FINA World Championships. This event was held in Budapest, Hungary. He finished in 4th place in the 200 meter butterfly. In December 2017, he won another bronze medal. This was at the European Short Course Championships in Copenhagen, Denmark. He earned it in the 200 meter butterfly event.
