The Taos Inn is a famous historic hotel in Taos, New Mexico. It's made from several old adobe houses. Adobe is a special type of building material made from earth and straw. These houses date back to the 1800s.
One of these houses belonged to a person named Thomas "Doc" Martin. In 1915, a very important group called the Taos Society of Artists had their first meeting there. After Doc Martin passed away, his wife, Helen Martin, turned the houses into a hotel. It opened on June 7, 1936, and was first called Hotel Martin. Later, new owners changed its name to "Taos Inn."
This special inn was recognized for its history. It was added to the New Mexico State Register of Cultural Properties in 1981. Then, in 1982, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. These lists help protect important historical places.
In January 2019, a company called Imprint Hospitality group bought the Taos Inn.
