Taqramiut Nipingat is a special radio network in Canada. It broadcasts radio shows in the Inuktitut language. This network serves 14 communities in the Nunavik region of Quebec.
The name "Taqramiut Nipingat" means "Voice of the People." It started as a small radio program in the early 1970s. By 1975, it grew into a full radio network.
The network has main offices in Montreal and Salluit. They also have smaller offices in Kuujjuaq and Puvirnituq where they create programs.
Besides radio, Taqramiut Nipingat has also made TV shows. These shows were in the Inuit language. They were shown on channels like CBC North and APTN.
How the Radio Reaches People
Taqramiut Nipingat uses many radio transmitters to send its programs. These transmitters help the radio waves reach different communities across Nunavik. This way, people in many towns can listen to the programs.
The network uses a special system called a "Single-frequency network." This means all their transmitters broadcast on the same radio frequency, which is 94.1 FM. This helps make sure everyone hears the same program clearly.
