Tarapaya is a small area in Bolivia. It is known as a canton. A canton is like a small district within a larger area. Tarapaya is part of the Potosí Municipality. This municipality is the main one in the Tomás Frías Province. All these places are located in the Potosí Department.
In 2001, about 1,042 people lived in the Tarapaya canton. The main village, which is also called Tarapaya, had only 11 people living there in 2001. This village is found to the east of the Tarapaya River.
