Tarpon Springs station facts for kids
The Tarpon Springs Depot is an old train station built in 1909 by the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad. You can find it in downtown Tarpon Springs, Florida, at 160 East Tarpon Avenue. This building is part of the Tarpon Springs Historic District, which means it's an important historical place.
The train tracks that once led to this station were first built in 1888 by the Orange Belt Railway. The last time a train used these tracks was for special trips to Dunedin on March 8, 1987. In the 1990s, these old tracks were turned into a walking and biking path called the Pinellas Trail.
Discovering the Historic Depot Museum
Today, the old train station is home to the Historic Depot Museum. The Tarpon Springs Area Historical Society runs this museum. It's a great place to learn about the history and culture of Tarpon Springs.
What You Can See at the Museum
