Tarquin became king by using force. He changed Rome's rules to give himself total power. He used violence to control the city. Many members of the Roman Senate, which was like Rome's council, were killed. He did not replace them. He also built big structures, like a strong temple. Eventually, he and his family were forced to leave Rome. The people of Rome rose up against him.

The Last King of Rome

Lucius Tarquinius Superbus was a powerful ruler. He was the final king in Rome's early history. His reign marked the end of the Roman Kingdom. After he was removed, Rome became a republic. This meant it was ruled by elected officials, not kings.

How Tarquin Became King

Tarquin's path to the throne was not peaceful. He used his power to take control. He forced his way into leadership. This was a big change from how kings were usually chosen. His actions showed he wanted complete control over Rome.

Tarquin's Rule and Power

Once king, Tarquin ruled with a firm hand. He changed the way Rome was governed. He made sure he had all the power. He did not share it with others. He also used violence to keep people in line. This made many Romans unhappy.

Building Projects in Rome

Despite his harsh rule, Tarquin also built important things. He started large construction projects. These included a strong temple. Such buildings helped make Rome look powerful. They also showed his own strength as a ruler.

Why Tarquin Was Forced Out

Tarquin's rule became too much for the Roman people. They grew tired of his violence. They did not like his complete control. A revolt began, and the people rose up.
