'Tasia Zalar (born in 1992) is an actress and musician from Australia. She is an Indigenous Australian. She was nominated for a special award called "Most Popular New Talent" at the Logie Awards. This was for her role as Shevorne Shields in the TV show Mystery Road. She was also featured on Elle Australias list in 2019.
Early Life and Background
Tasia Zalar was born in Cairns, which is in Far North Queensland, Australia. Her family comes from several Indigenous groups. These include the Gunggandji, Kaurareg, Gugu Thaypan, Mualgal, Gumulgal, and Wuthathi peoples.
She went to Trinity Bay State High School. When she was growing up, she loved playing sports. She played football and a traditional game called marngrook with the North Cairns Tigers team. When she was 19, she moved to Melbourne. Now, she spends her time living in both Melbourne and Townsville.
Acting Career
Tasia Zalar started her acting journey when she was 15 years old. Her first main role was in a short film called Nia's Melancholy in 2009. A short film is a movie that is much shorter than a regular movie.
After that, she appeared in her first full-length movie, Uninhabited, playing the character Coral. She also made her TV debut in the miniseries The Straits. A miniseries is a TV show with a limited number of episodes.
In 2018, Tasia began playing a main character named Shevorne Shields in the TV series Mystery Road. This show is a "neo-Western," which means it's like old Western movies but set in modern times.
