Taste Buds was a fun Canadian TV show made for kids. It was created by a company called marblemedia in Toronto. The show first aired on September 1, 2008, and finished on October 12, 2010, after three seasons. In 2010, Taste Buds even won a Gemini Award for its second season! This award was for "Best Cross-Platform Production – Children's and Youth." The show was filmed in different places around Toronto and Southern Ontario.
Taste Buds was a cooking show designed for kids aged 7–10. It helped children learn about what they eat and explore new foods from all over the world. The two young hosts, Avery and Lily, cooked recipes that were easy for kids to make. You could make them by yourself or with a little help from a grown-up. Each episode followed Avery and Lily on exciting food adventures. They explored the culture, history, science, and art behind different foods.
Helping them in the kitchen was their adult co-host, Matt. He was a chef and a fellow "Taste Bud" who loved food. Matt was always ready to share his expert knowledge. Other kids also joined in to help and try the foods in every episode.
The show also featured a cool high-tech fridge called the Chillbot 3000. This voice-activated computer fridge could quickly give out recipes, facts, and tips. Chillbot also connected the hosts to special field correspondents. These included the Health Meister, Science Whiz, World Traveller, and History Buff. Each one gave the hosts helpful information about the food they were working with.

Meet the Hosts of Taste Buds
Avery: The Creative Cook
Avery (played by Avery Bilz) believed that cooking should be fun! He often cooked by following his feelings instead of a strict recipe. For example, if he was baking cookies, he might add mini-marshmallows if he felt like it. Avery was always ready to try new tastes. He especially liked trying new foods if his co-host Lily encouraged him.
Matt: The Grown-Up Chef
Matt (Matt Austin) was the fun and unique grown-up on the show. He was like a mentor for Lily and Avery. Just like the kids, Matt loved to cook and was very good at it. He often created different cooking challenges for them. Matt usually judged the dishes that Avery and Lily made. He did not appear in Season 3 of the show.
Lily: The Adventurous Eater
Lily was one of the main young hosts of Taste Buds. She joined Avery in exploring new foods and cultures.
Jasmine: A New Flavor for the Show
To add more excitement to the cooking show, a young star named Jasmine joined for six episodes. She quickly became a favorite. Jasmine had an amazing ability to taste and understand different foods. She first appeared in the episode "Foods that Zing." She then starred in five more episodes: "Foods That Are Colourful," "Foods for Kings and Queens," "Foods That Roll," "Foods That Are Stacked," and "Foods for a Party." People who watched the show loved her joyful and friendly personality. Jasmine was played by Danielle Himelfarb. She did not appear in Season 1.
