Tatsunori Arai (新居 辰基, born December 22, 1983) is a Japanese former soccer player. He was born in Tobetsu, Hokkaido, Japan. He played as a forward, which means he was usually trying to score goals for his team.

Tatsunori Arai started playing soccer when he was young. He was part of the youth team for Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo. This is a well-known soccer club in Japan.

Tatsunori Arai's Soccer Journey

Tatsunori Arai began his professional soccer career in 2002. He joined the J1 League club Consadole Sapporo. This was the same club he played for as a young player.

Starting in the J.League

In April 2002, Arai played his first professional game. He played several matches as a forward that year. However, his team, Consadole Sapporo, finished last in the 2002 season. This meant they were moved down to the J2 League, which is the second division of Japanese soccer.

In 2003, Arai played in many games. He often came on as a substitute forward. This means he would come into the game later to help his team.

Moving to New Teams

In October 2004, Arai joined Shizuoka FC. This club was part of the Japanese Regional Leagues, which are lower-level leagues.

In 2005, he moved to Sagan Tosu, a club in the J2 League. Here, he became a very important player. He was a regular forward, playing almost every game. He also became a top scorer for the team in both the 2005 and 2006 seasons. This means he scored more goals than anyone else on his team.

Playing in the Top League Again

In 2007, Arai moved back to the J1 League. He joined JEF United Chiba. He played for this team for three seasons. Even though he played often, he did not score as many goals as he had before. At the end of the 2009 season, JEF United was also moved down to the J2 League.

In 2010, Arai joined Shonan Bellmare. This team had just been promoted to the J1 League. He played his first game for Shonan Bellmare on March 6, 2010, against Montedio Yamagata.

Returning to Sagan Tosu and Retirement

In 2011, Tatsunori Arai returned to Sagan Tosu. This was the J2 League club where he had been a top scorer. He played one more season with them. At the end of the 2011 season, he decided to retire from professional soccer.
