Tatsuya Mochizuki (望月 達也, Mochizuki Tatsuya, born April 20, 1963) is a former Japanese football player and manager. He played as a midfielder and later became a coach for several teams in Japan.

Mochizuki's Playing Days

Tatsuya Mochizuki was born in Shizuoka, Japan, on April 20, 1963. After finishing high school, he went to the Netherlands to play professional football. He played for teams like Haarlem and Telstar between 1982 and 1986.

In 1986, Mochizuki returned to Japan. He joined the team Yamaha Motors. This team later became known as Júbilo Iwata. He played for them until 1990.

Becoming a Coach

After he stopped playing football, Mochizuki started a new career as a coach. He worked with the Júbilo Iwata football club for many years.

In 2002, he left Júbilo Iwata. He then became the coach for the youth team at Avispa Fukuoka. A youth team helps young players learn and grow.

Managing Professional Teams

Mochizuki later became a manager for professional teams. In 2007, he was chosen to manage Vegalta Sendai in the J.League. The J.League is Japan's top football league.

His goal was to help Vegalta Sendai move up to Division 1. However, the team did not achieve this goal that season. Because of this, he decided to leave his job after the 2007 season.

Mochizuki also worked as a coach and temporary manager for other teams. These included Shonan Bellmare and Avispa Fukuoka. A temporary manager steps in when the main manager is not available.
