Tatsuya Tsuruta's Football Journey
Tatsuya Tsuruta was born in Fuji, Japan, on September 9, 1982. He started his journey in football with the youth team of Shimizu S-Pulse. This is a well-known club in Japan.
Starting His Professional Career
In 2001, Tsuruta officially joined the main team of Shimizu S-Pulse. This club plays in the J1 League, which is Japan's top football league. However, he found it hard to get playing time. He was behind another experienced goalkeeper named Masanori Sanada.
Playing for Ventforet Kofu
To gain more experience, Tsuruta moved to Ventforet Kofu in 2002. This club was in the J2 League, the second division. He joined them on a loan, which means he played for them temporarily. At Ventforet Kofu, he played in many matches as the main goalkeeper during 2002.
However, in 2003, his chances to play decreased. A new goalkeeper, Kensaku Abe, joined the team. In 2004, Tsuruta went back to Shimizu S-Pulse. But again, he couldn't play any matches because Yohei Nishibe was the main goalkeeper.
Returning to Ventforet Kofu
In 2005, Tsuruta returned to Ventforet Kofu again. He started as the main goalkeeper, but later that year, he didn't play as much. In 2006, Ventforet Kofu was promoted to the J1 League. Even though they were in the top league, Tsuruta still didn't play many games.
He became the main goalkeeper again in June 2007. But at the end of the 2007 season, the club was moved back down to the J2 League. From 2008 onwards, Tsuruta found it difficult to play regularly. Other goalkeepers like Shigeru Sakurai and Kota Ogi were often chosen instead.
Moving to Other Clubs
In 2010, Tsuruta moved to another J2 League club, Ehime FC. Unfortunately, he didn't play any matches there. This was because Hiromasa Yamamoto and Yusuke Kawakita were the main goalkeepers.
In 2011, he joined Kataller Toyama, another team in the J2 League. Before the season even started, he injured his right knee. He worked hard to recover and came back in October. After his return, he became the main goalkeeper for Kataller Toyama. He played in many matches until June 2012.
However, in June 2012, the club brought in a new goalkeeper, Tatsuya Morita. After Morita joined, Tsuruta didn't get to play as much. He decided to retire from professional football at the end of the 2012 season.
