A Look Back: Taylorsburg's History
Early Days and the Post Office
Taylorsburg had its own post office a long time ago. A post office is where people send and receive mail. It's also a place where communities often gather. The post office in Taylorsburg first opened in 1880. Back then, it was called "Taylorsburgh" with an "h" at the end.
In 1893, the name was officially changed to "Taylorsburg," dropping the "h." This post office served the local people for many years. However, in 1915, the post office closed down. This often happens when a community changes, or mail services become more centralized in larger towns nearby.
Population in the Past
In 1909, a few years before the post office closed, Taylorsburg was home to 135 people. This tells us it was a small but active community at that time. Today, it continues to be a part of the larger city of Trotwood.
