Ted Glossop (born 1934, died 1998) was a famous Australian rugby league player and coach. He is remembered for his time playing for the St. George Dragons and for leading the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs to a big win as their coach.

Playing Rugby League
Ted Glossop played for the St. George Dragons team. He was a player for eight seasons, from 1950 to 1958. During this time, he played 115 games for the club. He scored 17 tries, which is how players get points in rugby league. Ted stopped playing after the 1958 Third Grade grand final.
Coaching Successes
After his playing days, Ted Glossop became a very successful coach.
Club Coaching Achievements
- He coached the Cronulla Sharks team.
- He became a Premiership-winning coach with the Canterbury-Bankstown team. This means his team won the main competition in 1980.
- He also coached the St. George Dragons to win the 1988 Panasonic Cup.
State of Origin Coaching
Ted Glossop also made history as the very first coach for the New South Wales team in the State of Origin series. This is a special series of games between New South Wales and Queensland. He coached the team in 1980, 1981, and again in 1983.

Family Life
Ted's son, John Glossop, also became a first-grade rugby league player. John played for the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks from 1975 to 1983.
Career in Education
Ted Glossop was also a high school teacher and even a principal. He worked at Gymea High School as a deputy principal. In 1979, he became the principal of Picnic Point High School. Later, he returned to Gymea High School as its principal in the late 1980s. When he was a student himself, he went to Canterbury Boys' High School.

Ted Glossop passed away in 1998 after a battle with cancer. He is remembered as an important figure in Australian rugby league, both as a player and a coach.
