Ten Mile, Pennsylvania facts for kids
Ten Mile is a small place in Washington County, Pennsylvania, in the United States. It's called an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government. Instead, it's part of a larger county.
The Story of Ten Mile
Ten Mile has had a few different names over time. People also called it "Ten Mile Village" or simply "Tenmile."
A long time ago, in 1838, a post office opened in Ten Mile. This was a place where people could send and receive letters and packages. The name of the post office changed to Tenmile in 1895. However, the post office eventually closed its doors in 1955.
The community got its name from a nearby stream called Tenmile Creek.
