Tennessee Cove facts for kids
Tennessee Cove is a beautiful coastal area in Marin County, California, right next to the Pacific Ocean. This special spot got its name from an old ship called the S.S. Tennessee. This steamship got stuck here on March 6, 1853. Luckily, all 550 people on board made it safely to the beach! They even saved fourteen chests of gold before the ship broke apart. Sometimes, on winter days when the tide is very low, you can still see parts of the old ship on the south side of the beach.
To visit Tennessee Cove, you can take a hike. It's about a 1.7-mile (2.7-kilometer) walk from the parking lot at the end of Tennessee Valley Road. It's a great place for a walk and to enjoy nature!
