Terence Roberts, born in 1959 or 1960, is the current mayor of Anderson, South Carolina. This city is the main town, or "county seat," of Anderson County, South Carolina. He became mayor on July 1, 2006. He made history as the first African-American mayor of Anderson.
About Mayor Roberts
Terence Roberts was born on November 26, 1959. He grew up right there in Anderson, South Carolina. He finished West Side High School in Anderson in 1978. After high school, he went to Winthrop University. He earned a degree in marketing there. Later, he started his own business selling insurance.
Becoming Mayor
In 2006, Terence Roberts ran for mayor. He won against the mayor who had been in office for two terms, Richard Shirley. The votes were 2,219 for Roberts and 1,887 for Shirley. This victory was very important. It made him the first Black mayor of Anderson.
He was reelected several times. On April 8, 2018, he was the only person running for mayor. This meant he was automatically reelected for his fourth term. That term lasted from July 1, 2018, to June 30, 2022.
