Teruo Iwamoto (born May 2, 1972) is a former Japanese football player. He played as a Midfielder for several clubs in Japan and also for the Japan national team.

Playing for Clubs
Teruo Iwamoto was born in Yokohama, Japan, on May 2, 1972. After finishing high school, he started his professional football career in 1991. He joined a team called Fujita Industries, which later became known as Bellmare Hiratsuka.
Early Success and Challenges
In 1994, Iwamoto's team, Bellmare Hiratsuka, won the 1994 Emperor's Cup, which is a big football tournament in Japan. The next year, they also won the 1995 Asian Cup Winners' Cup, a major competition for teams in Asia. This was a very exciting time for him and his team.
However, after these wins, Iwamoto faced some challenges. He had injuries that made it hard for him to play regularly.
Moving to New Teams
In the late 1990s, Iwamoto played for a few different teams. He was with Kyoto Purple Sanga in 1998, Kawasaki Frontale in 1999, and Verdy Kawasaki in 2000.
In 2001, he moved to Vegalta Sendai. Here, he became a very important player for the team. He was known for helping his teammates score many goals.
Later Career and Retirement
In 2004, Iwamoto joined Nagoya Grampus Eight. Unfortunately, he got injured again in May of that year and left the club at the end of the season.
In October 2006, he signed with Auckland City, a team in New Zealand. He played for them until December. During this time, he also got to play in the 2006 Club World Cup, which was held in Japan. After the 2006 Club World Cup, Teruo Iwamoto decided to retire from playing professional football.
Playing for Japan
Teruo Iwamoto also had the honor of playing for the Japan national team.
International Debut
He played his first game for Japan on May 22, 1994, against Australia. This was a big moment in his career, representing his country on the international stage.
Asian Games and Goals
Iwamoto also played in the 1994 Asian Games. In this tournament, he wore the number 10 jersey for Japan, which is often given to a key attacking player. Throughout 1994, he played 9 games for the national team and scored 2 goals.
