Tetsuya Asano (浅野 哲也, Asano Tetsuya, born February 23, 1967) is a Japanese professional football manager and former player. He was born in Hokota, Ibaraki, Japan.
Asano played as a Midfielder for several clubs in Japan. He also represented the Japan national team. Currently, he is the head coach of the Kagoshima United FC club.

Playing Career: Clubs
Tetsuya Asano started his football journey after high school. In 1987, he joined a club called Toyota Motors. This club later became known as Nagoya Grampus Eight.
In 1992, a new football league called J1 League was created in Japan. Asano continued to play for Nagoya Grampus Eight. In 1994, he played for Urawa Reds for a short time on loan.
He returned to Nagoya Grampus Eight in 1995. With this team, he helped them win the Emperor's Cup twice, in 1995 and 1999.
Towards the end of his playing career, Asano also played for FC Tokyo in 2000 and Kawasaki Frontale in 2001. He retired from playing football in 2001.
Playing Career: National Team
Tetsuya Asano also had the honor of playing for his country. On June 2, 1991, he made his first appearance for the Japan national team in a game against Thailand.
He played a total of 8 games for Japan and scored 1 goal. His time with the national team lasted until 1994.
Coaching Career
After finishing his playing career in 2001, Tetsuya Asano began a new chapter as a football coach.
Early Coaching Roles
He started coaching at Shonan Bellmare in 2007. In 2010, he moved to Avispa Fukuoka. He became the manager of Avispa Fukuoka in August 2011. However, the team was moved down to the J2 League, and he left at the end of that season.
Managing Women's and Men's Teams
In 2013, Asano took on a new challenge. He managed a women's football club called Iga FC Kunoichi in the L.League until September 2014.
In 2015, he joined Kagoshima United FC, a club in the Japan Football League. Under his leadership, Kagoshima United FC finished 4th in the 2015 season. This great result meant the club was promoted to the J3 League.
Later Coaching Roles
In 2017, Asano moved to another J3 League club, AC Nagano Parceiro. He coached there until June 2018.
In May 2024, Tetsuya Asano returned to Kagoshima United FC as their manager. This was eight years after his first time coaching the team. He took over from the previous manager, Yasuaki Oshima.
