The Théâtre de l'Île (which means "Theatre of the Island") is a small theatre in Gatineau, Quebec, Canada. It's special because the city itself runs it! You can find it on a tiny island. This island is at the end of the Ruisseau de la Brasserie, a small river.
The building has a long history. It was first built in 1886. Back then, it was called the Hull Water Works. It helped provide water for the city of Hull. Over the years, the building was used for different things. In 1974, a big fire damaged it. But the city of Hull and the National Capital Commission (a government group) worked together. They rebuilt it as a theatre. It opened in 1976. It was the very first theatre in Quebec run by a city!
